WEST BRANCH - Current Ogemaw County Conservation District Treasurer Brad Kartes and Secretary Dave Green, both running unopposed, have each won reelection to four-year terms on the district board.
The vote took place at the 59th annual district meeting and pancake dinner Monday, March 8 at the Holy Family Parish Hall in West Branch. County residents cast their votes during a program presented by the board.
Chairman Richard Beck thanked the board for their efforts in keeping the district alive in Ogemaw County. State Rep. Joel Sheltrown, D-West Branch, also addressed the audience, and the Ogemaw Heights FFA Ag Issues Team gave a demonstration. In addition, Gus Chutorash, the Director of Camping for the Great Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts, gave a presentation on 100 years of Boy Scouting.
The board also distributed its Conservationist of the Year to RDJ Dairy of Rose City, as well as poster contest awards to six local youngsters. Lydia Luptowski and Ella Ward won for Division I, while Nicholas Marentette and Aaron Zettle won for Division II and Morgan Stephens and Savannah Woodbury won for Division III.
