Gladwin man recovering from multiple injuries after accident


BOURRET TWP. — A Gladwin man involved in a motorcycle-car accident Aug. 20 suffered multiple incapacitating injuries, but is recovering.

Trooper William Smith with the Michigan State Police said Martin Charles Drabek, 53, was the driver of the motorcycle, and suffered fractured ribs, a fractured shoulder and a ruptured spleen in the accident, which occurred on M-30 at approximately 5:10 p.m. Aug. 20. Smith said Drabek was transported to West Branch Regional Medical Center and then transferred to St. Mary’s of Saginaw, where he remains.

According to the police report, Drabek was traveling south of M-30 on a Harley-Davison motorcycle, and stopped to make a left turn. A four-door Jeep traveling south on M-30 collided with Drabek’s bike. The Jeep was driven by Shannon Marie Lechner, 23, of Gladwin.

Lechner was issued a hazardous driving citation, according to the police report.
