Several townships to see contested races on Aug. 7 primary ballot

OGEMAW COUNTY — Several townships will see contested races on the Aug. 7 primary ballot, including Cumming, Goodar, Hill, Horton, Mills and Richland townships. Below is a rundown of the candidates on the ballot for each township:

Churchill Township

There are no contested races on the Aug. 7 primary ticket in Churchill Township.

Incumbent John Clark Sr. is running unopposed on the Republican ticket for supervisor. No one has filed on the Democratic ticket.

Incumbent Lynn Kava­lunas is running unopposed on the Democratic ticket for clerk. No Republican candidate has filed.

For treasurer, incumbent Gail Quigley is running unopposed on the Repub­lican ticket. No Democrat has filed.

Incumbent Jack Gregg is the lone Republican filed for the township’s two trustee seats. He will face incumbent Larry Lauria and newcomer Steve Pizzala, who have both filed as Demo­crats, on the November ballot.

Cumming Township

Cumming Township will see contested races on the primary ballot for supervisor on the Democratic ticket, and treasurer on the Republican ticket.

For supervisor, incumbent Charles Katynski will face David Wolfe for the Demo­cratic nomination. No one has filed as a Republican for the seat.

For treasurer, incumbent Elizabeth Fish will face Louanne Rosebrugh on the Republican ticket. No Democrat has filed for the seat.

Incumbent Clerk Janice Fritz is running unopposed on the Republican ticket. No one has filed as a Democrat.

For township trustee, Jerry Neubecker and Bruce Schne­ider have both filed as Republicans, and incumbent Delinn Keetch and Gary Wangler have filed as Democrats. All four will move on to the November election.

Edwards Township

There are no contested races on the Aug. 7 primary ballot for either party.

Incumbent Louis Winter has filed as a Democrat for the supervisor seat. No Republican has filed.

Dennis Stephens is running unopposed as a Republican for the clerk seat. No Democrat has filed.

Incumbent Yvonne Mahl is running unopposed for treasurer on the Democratic ticket. No Republican has filed for her seat.

For trustee, incumbent Brent Illig is running unopposed as a Republican, with Bryan Stein running unopposed as a Democrat.

Foster Township

There are no contested races on the primary ballot for Foster Township.

Incumbent Sandra Miller is running unopposed for the supervisor seat as a Demo­crat. No Republican has filed.

Incumbent Karen McIntyre has filed as a Republican for the clerk seat. No Democrat has filed.

For treasurer, incumbent Betty Calvin is unopposed on the Democratic ticket. No Republican has filed.

Finally, incumbents Steven Brenner and Robert Mancour are running unopposed on the Democratic ticket for trustee. No Republicans have filed.

Goodar Township

Both the races of supervisor and clerk will see opposition on the Democratic primary ticket Aug. 7 in Goodar Township.

For supervisor, incumbent Cliff Chase will face Dick Gulvas on the Democratic ticket. No Republican has filed.

For clerk, Kristine DeTroyer will face incumbent Cindy Weingartz on the Democratic ticket. No Republican has filed.

Guy Santoni has filed as a Republican for the treasurer seat, with incumbent Treasurer Robert Quillen filing as a Democrat. Both will face each other on the November ballot.

For trustee, June Greve and Danny Laskey have filed as trustees on the Republican ticket, with Al Davis filing as a Democrat. The three will face each other in November.

Hill Township

Both the races for supervisor and trustee will see opposition on the Demo­cratic ticket in Hill Township Aug. 7.

For supervisor, Rob Reid and David Runyan have both filed as Democrats. No Republican has filed.

Incumbent Clerk Carol Gillman is running unopposed on the Democratic ticket for clerk. No Republican has filed.

Incumbent Treasurer Sally Reid has filed as a Democrat for the treasurer seat. No Republican has filed.

For trustee, David Mayhew and incumbent Robert Tamplin have filed as Republicans, and will move on to the November ballot. Incumbent Irene Kreiner, David Landenberg and Lorie Williams have all filed as Democrats. Two of them will move on to the November ballot.

Horton Township

Only the race for treasurer will see opposition on the Democratic primary ticket Aug. 7 in Horton Township.

Incumbent Karen Michael has filed as a Democrat for the supervisor seat. No candidate has filed as a Rep­ublican.

Incumbent Connie Kraska has filed as a Democrat for the clerk seat. No Repub­lican has filed.

For treasurer, Erma Lurvey and incumbent Jerry Wolf have filed as Demo­crats, with no one filing on the Republican ticket.

Incumbents George Goodchild and Jerry Lehman have both filed as Republicans for the two trustee seats. No one has filed as a Democrat.

Klacking Township

There will be no contested races on the Aug. 7 primary ballots for Klacking Town­ship.

Incumbent Debra Thomas is running unopposed on the Democratic ticket for supervisor. No Republicans have filed.

Ellen Rush has filed as a Democrat for the clerk seat. No Republican has filed.

Incumbent Carrie Reetz has filed as a Republican for the treasurer seat. No Dem­ocrat has filed.

Incumbents Lecretia DeRoso and Al Wiltse have both filed as Democrats for trustee. No Republicans have filed.

Logan Township

There will be no contested races on the primary ballots in Logan Township Aug. 7.

Incumbent Kathy David has filed as a Republican for supervisor. No Democrats have filed.

Incumbent Tonya Schagel has filed as a Republican for clerk. No Democrats have filed.

Incumbent Shirley Parent has filed as a Republican for treasurer. No Democrats have filed.

Kathleen Fabera and Travis Miller are both running as Republicans for the two trustee seats. No Democrats have filed.

Mills Township

The races for supervisor and trustee will see opposition on the Democratic primary ticket Aug. 7 in Mills Township.

Incumbent Lloyd Saun­ders and Lance Vervoort have both filed as Democrats for the supervisor seat. No Republicans have filed.

Incumbent April Schils is running unopposed on the Democratic ticket for clerk. No Republican has filed.

Brenda Eymer has filed as a Republican for the treasurer seat, with incumbent Dona Emerson filing as a Democrat. They will face each other on the November ballot.

Greg Colton has filed as a Republican for the trustee seat. He will move on to the November ballot. Incumbent Ethel Hight, April Harkey-Mason, incumbent James Moore and Duane Prince have all filed as Democrats for trustee. Two of them will move on to the November ballot.

Ogemaw Township

There will be no contested races on the primary ballot Aug. 7 in Ogemaw Township.

Incumbent Denis Stephens is running unopposed as a Republican for supervisor. No Democrats have filed.

Incumbent Virginia Linsenman has filed as a Democrat for the clerk seat. No Republicans have filed.

Incumbent Renee Ryland has filed as a Republican for treasurer. No Democrat has filed.

Incumbents Ronald Dantzer and Sandra Hodgins have both filed as Democrats for the trustee seat. No Republicans have filed.

Richland Township

Richland Township will see opposition for the treasurer and trustee seats on the Republican primary ticket Aug. 7.

Dale Bronson has filed as a Republican for the township supervisor seat. No Democrat has filed.

Incumbent Dawn Johnson has filed as a Republican for the clerk seat. No Democrat has filed.

Brian Bellville and incumbent Deborah Burton have filed as Republicans for the treasurer seat. No Democrats have filed.

Incumbent Lee Brown, William Cliff and Lila Fegan have all filed as Republicans for the two trustee seats. No Democrats have filed.

Rose Township

There will be no opposition on the Rose Township primary ballots Aug. 7.

Incumbent Louis Mc­Kellar has filed as a Re­publican for supervisor. No Democrats have filed.

Incumbent Clerk Kelli Collins has filed as a Republican for the clerk seat. No Democrat has filed.

Incumbent Carol Hanus has filed as a Republican for the treasurer seat. No Democrat has filed.

Incumbent Linda Blair has filed as a Republican for trustee, as has incumbent Russell Oyster, who filed as a Democrat.

West Branch Township

There will be no opposition on the Aug. 7 primary ballots in West Branch Township.

Ryan Veeder is running unopposed as a Democrat for supervisor. No Rep­ublican has filed.

Incumbent Margaret Winslow is running unopposed as a Democrat for clerk. No Republican has filed.

Incumbent Diane Philbrick is running unopposed as a Republican for treasurer. No Democrat has filed.

Donald Hodgins has filed as a Republican for trustee, with Brenda Hughey and incumbent Michael Selinski filing as Democrats. All three will face each other in November.
