SKIDWAY LAKE — The Skidway Lake Moose Lodge is scheduled to hold a car show Aug. 4.

According to event organizer Alan Kups, the event is planned to run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. that day, and there will be plenty of action going on during the day.

“We’re going to have a lot of different things going on,” Kups said. “We’re going to have barstool races going on throughout the day. We’ll have food and beverages on sale all day too.”

He said there will be door prizes given out every half hour and there will also be a DJ playing oldies from the ’50s through ’70s throughout the day to make the event feel like a scene straight out of “American Graffiti.”

“There’s going to be some older stuff at the event,” Kups said. “We want it to feel like the car shows they used to have back in the day.”

Kups said there is no preregistration before the show, and people who want to show their cars will have to pay $5 at the door. Everyone else will pay $1 admission.

He said people will vote on the best cars at the show, with the top two vote-getters receiving trophies.

“We’re not splitting the vote up into categories or anything like that,” Kups said. “We’re keeping it simple.”

According to Kups, all the proceeds from the event will go to the lodge. he said the lodge will use most of those funds to help area children in a variety of ways.

He said this is the first time the lodge is holding the show, and it has been in the works for a while.

“We’ve been working on this since last January,” Kups said. “This is the first time we’re doing this, so we’re just trying it out and seeing how it goes.”
