WYOMING —After a successful run to the Michigan Little League ages 9&10 Softball State Finals, a loss in the championship round of the finals brought the West Branch/Rose City 9&10 All-Star Team’s summer run to an end July 30.

The team went 2-1 during the opening rounds of pool play at Pinery Park in Wyoming, Mich., over the weekend to advance to the single elimination championship segment, which included eight teams, but the girls fell 10-4 to Freeland in their first championship game Monday.

The action kicked off July 27 with the team winning its first pool play game against Rochester Hills 10-3. The girls topped Tri-Cty North 6-5 the next day, but lost 10-9 to Grandville on Sunday.

Despite the final loss, the team advanced out of pool play as a No. 2 seed, but the loss to Freeland brought an end to the all-stars’ summer run.

“We want to say thank you to the community for all their support throughout our amazing journey!,” Brandi DesMarteaux said. DesMarteaux is a coach with the team. “The girls had an unforgettable fun-filled month of July!,” she said.
