Emil Theodore Lewis Sr., 101, of Alger, formerly of Livonia, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017.

Emil was born Aug. 16, 1916, in New York City, N.Y., to the late Theodore and Catherine (Nuciuk) Lewandowsky. He graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit and went on to join the apprenticeship program at the Ford Motor Company. Later, Emil joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II in the South Pacific, attaining the rank of captain. Following his time in the service, he returned to the Ford Motor Company and worked as an electrical engineer until his retirement.

Emil is survived by his sons, Emil T. (Ester) Lewis Jr. of Granada Hills, Calif., and David J. (Carol) Lewis of Burbank, Calif.; and grandchildren, Christopher Lewis and Lindsay Lewis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda Anne Lewis; and daughter, Janet Lewis Verna.

A visitation service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 7 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Prescott. Emil will be interred Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia with his wife and daughter.
