Leonard Lee “Larry” Pelath, 74, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, peacefully at his home in Gladwin.

He was born June 1, 1943, in Detroit to Leonard Sr. and Mildred (Phipps) Pelath. Larry married Kyong Lee in Korea on July 2, 1968. He lived in Gladwin since 1996, formerly of York, Pa. Larry was a food inspector with the U.S. Army, retiring in 1984. After his years of service with the Army, he became a civilian food inspector. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 2022, American Legion Post 103, Veterans of Foreign Wars 3775 and Disabled American Veterans. Larry enjoyed cars, drag racing, hunting and fishing.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kyong Hiu Pelath; stepson, Ki Sik Kim; daughter, Dal Rae Pelath; grandchildren, A Rum Kim, Leonard Kim and Nalee Kim; and nephews, Jeff Pelath and Joel Pelath.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Donald Pelath.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home will begin Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, from 5-9 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Edwards Township Cemetery. Father Patrick Maher will officiate.
