OHHS boys basketball coach taken off administrative leave

Posted

WEST BRANCH — Ogemaw Heights boys basketball coach Mike Weiler is no longer on administrative leave, according to West Branch-Rose City Area Schools Superintendent Phil Mikulski.

“West Branch-Rose City Area Schools has completed its internal investigation and OHHS head basketball coach Mike Weiler is no longer on administrative leave,” Mikulski wrote in an email to the Herald March 13. “Because this is a personnel issue, the district does not have any other comment at this time.”

Weiler was placed on administrative leave Feb. 28. At that time, Mikulski said the district was conducting an internal investigation, and that accusations against Weiler were not criminal in nature. At that time, no further details were given as to what the allegations were.

During a phone interview March 13, Mikulski restated that no more information could be provided regarding the investigation.

“Because it’s a personnel issue, I really can’t say anything else,” he said.

Mikulski confirmed that Weiler is still the boys varsity basketball coach for the district.

“Coaches are hired until something changes,” Mikulski said. “Action would have to be taken to not renew a coach’s contract.”

No further information is available at this time. The Herald has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with WB-RC schools for additional information.
