One person injured in single-vehicle accident on Christmas Eve

ALGER — A 70-year-old man from Hale was transported to MidMichigan Medical Center - West Branch with non-life-threatening injuries after a vehicle accident Dec. 24.

The man was traveling eastbound on Greenwood Road near West Pine when the Ford F-350 he was driving left the road and collided with a tree.

Ogemaw County Sheriff's Deputy Branden Kirby said officers were dispatched at 12:36 p.m. Speed and road conditions contributed to the accident, he said.

There was no citation given for speed, Kirby said.

The man also had a cat with him in a carrier that suffered no injuries and was transported with the man to the hospital by ambulance, Kirby said.

“The cat was surprisingly calm,” he said.

Ogemaw County EMS, Ogemaw County Central Dispatch, Ogemaw Fire Department and D & N Towing also assisted.
