Suspected drunk driver hits utility pole and injures hand

MILLS TWP. — Ogemaw County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident May 17, during which a vehicle collided with a utility pole in Mills Township, sending the driver to the hospital with an injured hand.

Deputy Justin Noffsinger said the driver, a 32-year-old Prescott man, turned north onto Lucinda Road off Greenwood Road and reportedly lost control of his vehicle before colliding with the pole.

Multiple witnesses reported to deputies that the driver was driving recklessly before the accident, Noffsinger said.

The driver allegedly attempted to leave the scene, but was blocked in by Ogemaw County EMS.

Noffsinger said alcohol is believed to be involved.
