Roy Wilcox

Died November 6, 2021

Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Roy Wilcox, age 82, passed peacefully from his home in Rose City, Michigan, Saturday, November 6.

Roy was born August 11, 1939, in Flint Michigan, to Lyle and Elnita (Archambault) Wilcox.

He married the love of his life, Dianne’ Flewelling, November 20, 1962. Together they had four children, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Roy was a true family man and adored his children and all his grandchildren. He enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by his family, who had the pleasure of knowing his goofy, practical-jokester, and affectionate side. Though he was usually the silent observer, being around them all brough him true joy.

In 1994, Roy retired from AC Sparkplug in Flint, Michigan where he worked for 32 years. During his time there, his life was transformed when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. After that, his work ethics rule became “if you’re going to do a job, do it right the first time.” When his career was finished, he and his wife retired to the Rose City area.

During his life, he achieved the level of Extra Class in Amateur Radio (HAM), call sign KG8A. He was an avid runner and participated many times in the CRIM and numerous other races. Roy was also a first degree blackbelt, Sho Dan, in the Koei Kan style of karate. He held many positions in church over the years including deacon, Sunday school teacher, Jr. High superintendent, captain of the bus ministry, treasurer, and participated in prison ministry. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Lupton, Michigan.

Roy is survived by his wife Dianne’; children Laura (Tod) Dehmel, Roy (Tamara) Wilcox Jr, Patrick (Kelly) Wilcox, and Thomas Wilcox; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings Lyle Charles (Tina) Wilcox, twin brother Ray (Earlene) Wilcox, Mary Wilcox, and Theresa (Roger) Richards.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father along with siblings Demerese (Robert) Boggs and Delores (Roger) Williams.

He will be deeply missed by his family. We are joyful that he is in Heaven with his Savior and those that have gone before him.

Visitation will be held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in Rose City Wednesday, November 10, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.  Pastor Paul Heaton will officiate.
