The world can always use more ‘Happy Little Trees’ The Happy Little Trees program began in 2019, during Michigan’s state park centennial celebration, as an initiative to brand a partnership between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Department of Corrections. Each year, the DNR collects seeds from native tree species in state parks and takes them to correctional facilities to be planted.

The Ogemaw Heights Theatrical Troupe is excited to announce their upcoming spring musical, Hello, Dolly! This classic will take the stage March 15-18th at 7 pm in the Ogemaw Heights High School auditorium. Directed by Toni Thomas, musically directed by Sommer Page and Kevin Salsbury, set constructed by Mike Dunn, and choreographed by Teri Rapp and students Claire Johnson, Anastasia Kurtz, and Margaret McNamara, this story of love, life, and adventure will shine brighter than ever on the OHHS stage. With memorable songs such as “Put on Your Sunday Clothes” and “It Only Takes a Moment,” this show will surely be another astounding performance from the Ogemaw Heights Theatrical Troupe.

Sledding under the lights

ROSE CITY — There was snow in Rose City Park Feb. 25, so there was Sledding Under the Lights. The sledding hill was lit from 5-8 p.m. and children of all ages enjoyed fun in the snow. Refreshments were provided by the Rose City Area Fire Association. The annual Bonfire and Chili Cook-off will be held this coming Saturday, March 4 at 4 p.m. followed by another evening of sledding (if there’s snow).
