Ariel Moses is Ogemaw County’s 2023 small animal showman of the showmen.

There are only four competitors in the small animal showman of showmanship—the rabbit grand champion, the reserve rabbit grand champion, the poultry grand champion and the poultry reserve grand champion.

Moses represented rabbits. She has raised rabbits and chickens for 4-H for years now.

Each competitor shows a rabbit, chicken, turkey and duck. They are judged based on their ability to perform the showmanship steps for each animal.

“It felt fantastic,” said Moses. “It was a great accomplishment to get on my last year of 4-H. I am very passionate about showmanship, so it was amazing win the Small Animal Showman of Showmen competition.”

Moses said her favorite part of the fair is “that everyone feels like family – we all help each other out to be the best we can.”
