Helen (Peggy) Lucille Nelson, age 95 of West Branch, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at the MediLodge of Sterling. Helen was born on May 12, 1927, to Louis and Helen Remilong in Sebewaing, MI. She married Hilding Nelson on October 2, 1948, at St. John Lutheran Church in West Branch.

Helen was a member of the Churchill United Methodist Church in West Branch. She enjoyed sewing, painting, shopping, baking cookies and bread.

Helen is survived by sons Kenneth (Janet) Nelson of Standish, Gary (Annette) Nelson of Sterling, Robert (Rose) Nelson of West Branch, John (Gayle) Nelson of Lupton and Mark (Ann) Nelson of Lupton; daughter DeAnna (Jeff) Miller of West Branch; 30 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild expected in June. Also surviving is sister Joan Walters of Lupton and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband Hilding Nelson, parents Louis and Helen Remilong, brothers Louis, John, Harold and Raymond, sisters Dorothy, Ruth, Alice, Dolly and Micky and grandchild Joshua Nelson.

Visitation at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch was held Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 2-8 p.m. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, Reid Rosebrugh officiating.
