Sylvia Alma Selesky, age 100, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at The Brook in West Branch, MI surrounded by her family. She was born on January 31, 1923, in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, Canada to George and Elizabeth (McCammack) Gartee.

Sylvia lived in Rose City since 1946. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church Klacking Creek, in West Branch, DAV Auxiliary Post #73, and the Civilian Conservation Corps.

She married Karl E. Hoffman on February 14, 1944 and he predeceased her on May 11, 1975. She married John Selesky on October 29, 1993 and he predeceased her on March 5, 2011.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Sandra Oehus of Vassar, MI and Sharlott (Thomas) Williams of Lakeland, FL; seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Karl Hoffman, and second husband John Selesky.

Visitation was held at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch on Monday, February 13 from 1-5 p.m. with a rosary at 3 p.m. The funeral service was held Tuesday, February 14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Branch at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Father Emmanuel Finbarr officiated. Burial followed at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
