William “Bill” Duwayne Rase

William “Bill” Duwayne Rase, 82, of Prescott Michigan, passed away April 1, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Born October 10, 1940, Bill was a graduate of Bay City Visitation and proud member of the 59ers. Bill had a great love for Hockey and was a huge Red Wings fan. He can be found in the Bay City Sports Hall of Fame for his position as goalie with the “Bay City Americans” Hockey League. He graduated from GMI as a Master Electrician and retired from Nodular Grey Iron after an illness left him partially paralyzed and partially blinded. While wheelchair-bound, Bill honed his craft as an air gun sharp shooter. He competed in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul Korea and landed 94 gold and 4 silver medals throughout his career. Bill served 40 years as president of the 3 County Club, member of the Cardinal Optimist Club and Skidway Chamber of Commerce where many lives were touched due to his service.

Bill married Kathleen on October 6, 2002. She was the love of his life and was forever by his side. Bill is survived by his sisters Susan (Robert) Delaney and Patrice (Robert) Morse, his children William (Denise Riggs) Rase, Debra (Scott) Ratell, Terri (Robert Weburg) Rase, Rick (Kristy) Carrier, Richard (Tina) Carrier, Toni (Jeff) Wigington, Debra Carroll, Mona Berlin and Kenneth (Jennifer) Ritter along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and so many dear friends. Bill’s parents Charles and Victoria (Koczenasz) Rase, brother Charles Rase, sister Germaine (Charles) Brown, son, Brian Rase, and daughter Lynette (Jeff) Reaume welcomed him to his heavenly home.
