Lady Cardinals see mixed results

Whittemore-Prescott varsity volleyball went 7-5 at the Standish-Sterling tournament Aug. 26.

The Lady Cardinals defeated Standish-Sterling 8-25 and 25-18 and Au Gres 25-15 and 25-21. They split with Pinconning 19-25, 25-21, Houghton Lake 25-18 and 15-25, and Calvary Baptist 25-18 and 14-125.

The Lady Cardinals fell to Carrollton 8-25 and 9-25.

“We had a good day,” said Coach Cathy Blust. “Our passing is an improvement and we were able to get some good swings on offense. We do have some work to do to clean up our serving game.”

Belle Steinley had three service aces, nine digs and 34 kills; Breanne Wanks had six service aces, 11 digs, and 15 kills; Claire Blust had six service aces, nine kills, 33 digs, and 58 assists. Taylor Lomason had nine service aces, five kills, two blocks, and three digs. Cadence Smith had three service aces and three kills. Riley Stephens had four service aces and four digs, London Crossley had three kills.
