Aktion Club holding three days of fundraising

Posted

WEST BRANCH — The newly formed Aktion Club is organizing three fundraising days in the month of August, providing car washes, bake sales and grocery bagging and carrying for area shoppers.

The club is made up of 17 special needs adults who have a desire to serve and better the community.

“We’re very smart, very intelligent and willing to work hard,” President Violet Wilson said.

The funds are going toward an upcoming carnival event being organized for September, as well as good causes such as a food truck, the children's garden behind Trinity Episcopal Church in West Branch and D & R Hobby and Rescue Farm in West Branch.

Group members will first be putting on a car wash and bake sale Aug. 2 at Rosati’s Marketplace in Skidway Lake, followed by a car wash and bake sale Aug. 23 at Tractor Supply in West Branch. Finally, they will be bagging and carrying groceries for tips and holding a bake sale Aug. 30 at Family Fare in West Branch.
