Conservation district meeting sees large turnout

Organizers of the Ogemaw Conservation District’s 68th annual meeting were pleased with the high turnout March 25 at the Holy Family Parish Hall, where a crowd of community members gathered to enjoy the breakfast buffet, cheer on the poster contest award winners, listen to presentations, exercise their right to vote and win some raffle prizes. Doug Chutorash and Terry Fritz, the only candidates on the ballot, were both voted in as directors. Roberta Beck, representing her late husband, presented the Richard Beck Conservationist of the Year award to Zettel Farms, represented by Dan and Melinda Zettel. Ethan Resteiner of The Highway Brewing Company and hops farmer Kevin Zettle presented.
