Michael lived in West Branch all of his life. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in West Branch. He enjoyed auctions, county fair, steam engine shows and Polled Hereford cows.

Michael is survived by his children; Martin (Kathy) Rau, Michele Rau, Michael Rau, Gary (Diane) Rau and Marjorie (Ron) Taylor all of West Branch; grandchildren, Randy (Missy), Gary (Sara), Jesse (Rene), Pat (Paula), Casey (Annie), Keegan (Ashley), Colin, Christopher, Tara (Rick), Michael and Ashley (James); great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Reese, Reanne, Brenden, Gavin, Melanie, Aubrey, Charles, Sawyer, Maverick, Chloe, Lola, Destiny, Tiffany, Lacey, and William (Jorden).

He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jean Rau; grandson, Dwayne Rau; sisters, Ruth Freiheit and Margaret Doris and brothers, Jack and Gene Rau.

Visitation only at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held.
