Mitchel L. Haskins

Died July 31, 2019


Mitchel L. Haskins, 62, of Hale passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital in Bay City.

He was born in Flint on Dec. 8, 1956, to the late Edward and Bernadine (Drow) Haskins. Mitchel attended and played football at both Beecher High School and Whittemore-Prescott High School. He joined the U.S. Navy following school and was honorably discharged after his service. Mitchel married the former Michele Bentenhead on Oct. 26, 1996, in Prescott. He worked for a welder for more than 22 years for Zanner’s Products in Tawas City, Delta Tube in Holly and for the village of Prescott. Mitchel’s last job was as a test driver for Roush Racing. He was a member of the Richland Township Fire Department and he was active in the 4-H program locally. Mitchel enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and online auctions.

He is survived by his wife, Michele Haskins of Hale; six children, son Matthew M. Haskins of Oscoda, daughter Farah (Scott) Miller of Wyoming, Mich., son Michael (Teresa) Haskins of Black River, son Josh (Sara) Dowell of Meridianville, Ala., son David Kaufeld of Japan and son Robert Haskins of Prescott; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way. Mitchel is also survived by two brothers, Rodney Haskins of Prescott and Gary Edwards of Prescott; best friend, David (Mary) Harroun of Prescott; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Erickson.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the Buresh Funeral Home in Prescott, with the Rev. Doug Kennedy officiating. The family received friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
