More Halloween events to come

Alger

Alger Parks and Rec has moved its trunk or treat event to the Moffatt Township Fire Hall at 7842 Newberry Rd. due to weather. Trunk-or-treating will take place on Halloween from 6-7:30 p.m. A costume contest will be held at 6:30 p.m. with prizes awarded to first through third places. Those wishing to participate as a trunker can call 989-859-8418.

Lupton

The Lupton Fire Department is holding its annual trick-or-treating event from 4-8:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the fire hall. Tables will be available for people to bring their own candy to hand out, and kids can come in costume and keep out of the cold weather. For more information or to let the department know you will be handing out candy, call Ellen Scott at 989-473-2035.

Prescott

Halloween in the Village of Prescott will be hosted from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31. For more information on this inaugural event, see the story.

Rose City

The Trinity United Methodist Church in Rose City is holding its annual trunk or treat from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Main Street will be blocked off for safety. Kids (and adults) can come in costume and also enjoy hot dogs and hot chocolate. The church is located at 125 W. Main St., Rose City, MI 48654. For more information, call the church at 989-685-2350.

Trick-or-treating in the city of Rose City will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

Skidway Lake

The Skidway Lake Trunk or Treat event will run from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31 at Rosati’s, on the corner of Greenwood Road and Skunk Hollow, hosted by the Cardinal Optimist Club of Skidway Lake. Trophies will be awarded for trunk decorations. Trunkers are asked to be set up by 4:30 p.m. To register to set up a trunk, call April Harkey-Mason at 989-578-8768 or Janet at 989-387-2640.

West Branch

The commission on aging will then host its “Sock Hop” Halloween Bash Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees can come in a costume or come as they are. The day will include fun activities, a spooky lunch, 50-50s and music by Bob Schneider, The Red Accordion. To reserve a spot, contact Alicia at 989-345-3010 ext. 201.

The Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church is holding its Family Fall Fest Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m. The event will include a chili cook-off, music, prizes, face painting, food and children’s games. The church is located at 3480 W. M-76, West Branch. For more information, call 989-345-2260.

The First United Methodist Church of West Branch is hosting its Halloween Grab-n-Go & Trunks from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Attendees can drive through the parking lot to view the trunks and get candy and goodies while in their car. Hot dogs and sloppy joes will be served. The event is free to anyone, not just trick-or-treaters. The church is located at 2490 State Rd., West Branch.

Faith Alive Church in West Branch is holding its annual trunk or treat from 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 31. Parents can bring kids ages 0-14 to the parking lot for a safe, family-friendly event. The church is located at 2945 Hansen Rd., West Branch. For more information, call 989-345-5440.

The West Branch Optimist Club and Kiwanis Club will be hosting their annual Halloween Spectacular Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6:30-8 p.m. Kids from preschool to sixth grade are invited to enjoy games, candy, popcorn and soda. Everything is free. Toy weapons are prohibited and all school rules will be in effect.

The Brook of West Branch is welcoming trick-or-treaters from 5:30-7 p.m.

Trick-or-treating in the city of West Branch will run from 5-6 p.m. for downtown businesses and 6-8 p.m. for residences.
