Ogemaw County Jail RFP

Posted by

I'm writing this in response to the Ogemaw County Jail RFP bid opening.I deal with the phone aspect of this bid.My company Great Lakes Telecom finished $4,668.00 cheaper than the winning bid.Our phone system is a "PBX" system geared for the future and future expansion if needed.

I was told before the bid opening by Mr.Jim Allen that They were looking at someone local to provide this service.Which begs the question if they knew who they were going with why put out an RFP in the first place. Our company is on both sides of the project with offices in Traverse City and in Chesaning. My company has did thousand of installs of this nature. We have clients in 19 states and all over Michigan.I consider us to be local also.

It is really sad that the tax payers have to pay more out of their pockets for this project than need be.It is also sad to see other competitor's work hard on these RFP's only to be beaten out because of somebody's favorite vendor.

The real losers of this are the taxpayers for having to pay extra money for a lesser system.

Hey if they went with some one local than fine by me go home back to your big house and what ever els we need to keep our money in west branch and local so we can save or familys here in west branch so what if they have to pay 4,668.00 more it keeps it local and that is nothing compared to what they have spent in the past on houseing inmates out in other countys
