Posted

WEST BRANCH — The Ogemaw County Fair is once again set to kick off Monday.

The first event from the fair actually was held Sunday, with the tractor pulls at the grandstands. But the fair officially kicks off Monday evening, Aug. 12, with the opening ceremony and flag raising at 6:30 p.m. The grandstand activities continue at 7:30 p.m. with the Supercross races.

Tuesday marks the opening of the Arnold Amusements midway at noon, bringing the fair into full swing. Exhibit buildings open at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The day closes out with the off road race night at the grandstands.

Wednesday at the fair is Kids Day with armbands available for the day for $25. There will also be a car seat safety check from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The grandstand event is the ever-popular bump and run competition at the grandstands.

Thursday is Senior Citizens Day, with seniors 60 and older receiving admission for just $1. The annual 4-H/FFA Small and Large Animal Auction is one of the highlights of the day, starting at 4 p.m. in the pavilion. Finally the Night of Destruction makes its return to the grandstands Thursday evening.

Friday and Saturday the fair will be in full swing with multiple events all day long. Friday night country music artist Terri Clark will entertain the grandstand crowd, while the grandstand events and the fair will wrap up Saturday evening with the mud bog.

Fair admission is $5 per person at the gate. Kids 10 and younger are free and a weekly pass can be purchased for $10. For more information about the Ogemaw County Fair and for a full schedule of events, visit www.ogemawcountyfair.org.
