One hospitalized following rear-end vehicle collision

ALGER — A 54-year-old Gladwin man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the vehicle he was driving collided with the rear end of another vehicle July 31.

The accident occurred at the intersection of M-33 and Greenwood Road at approximately 8:30 a.m.

According to the Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office, the 54-year-old Gladwin man was traveling eastbound in a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox behind a 59-year-old Alger man in an older model Chevrolet pickup truck as they approached the intersection.

For unknown reasons, the Equinox reportedly did not stop and collided with the right-rear of the pickup truck, setting off the airbags in the Equinox.

Deputy Robert Weishuhn said an off-duty firefighter and a nurse stopped to render aid to the injured male until EMS was able to arrive to transport him to the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation.
