Prescott man charged with stealing truck

MIO — A Prescott man was arraigned in 81st District Court April 11 following a multi-county investigation stemming back to February.

According to a Michigan State Police press release, Joseph King, 21, of Prescott was arrested in Oscoda County and charged with unlawfully driving away with an automobile.

The charges against King stem from an investigation that began Feb. 22, when MSP troopers from the Alpena post were called to the Luzerne Express to investigate the theft of a Ford F-250 pickup truck.

The next day the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office came across the truck. King reportedly attempted to flee, but was caught and arrested by deputies.

“The Oakland (County) Sheriff’s Office arrested King on multiple charges stemming from the traffic stop and found evidence that King had been responsible for stealing the truck from the Luzerne Express.”

A plow and some tools had been removed from the truck prior to it being found and remain missing.

Anyone with information related to the crime are asked to contact the Alpena post at 989-354-4101.
