Renee (DesJarden) Timmons

Died July 10, 2019

Renee “Nay” (DesJarden) Timmons, 58, of Gladwin passed away in her father’s home in Cooks on July 10, 2019, after a far too short battle with cancer, with her husband and mother at her side.

Nay was born June 22, 1961, in Munising. She ultimately settled with her husband in the Indian Lake area of Gladwin County, but always held a deep love for the Upper Peninsula. She preferred the “old-school” way of life and remarked upon her diagnosis about how happy she was that she would “never have to touch a computer again.” Nay was a celebrated home cook, known for her ham roll-ups, baked beans and dump cake. More than anything, though, she loved spending time with family — holidays with her family in West Branch, and summers with her family in Cooks — teaching the little ones naughty jokes and keeping the adults up until all hours of the night telling stories and laughing.

She is survived by her husband, David Timmons of Gladwin; mother, Sandra LaFave of West Branch; siblings, Terry “Bears” (Lisa) DesJarden of Cooks, Shelly Ann (Mike) Setterlind and Becky Lee (Robert) Maynard of Manistique, Susan Marie (Jason) Mercier of Nahma, Randy Burke, Amy LaFave and Michael LaFave of West Branch; and a huge extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and coworkers who all miss her dearly.

Renee was preceded in death by her father, Terry L. DesJarden of Cooks; and her sister, Kelly DesJarden of Flint.

Per Renee’s wishes, no formal service was held, and family will hold celebrations of life for her in the future.
