Wayne George Muringer, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, with family by his side at The Horizon Senior Living center in St. Helen.

Wayne lived in Prescott for many years, and prior to moving to Prescott lived in Saginaw. He also resided in Grand Marais for a number of years before returning to Prescott to be closer to his children. Wayne was born Jan. 3, 1936, in Bay City to Edward and Aletha Muringer. He married Alice (Goyette) on June 29, 1957, and together they raised their children in Saginaw. Wayne worked at a furniture shop and then GM in Bay City until he retired and they moved to Grand Marais to enjoy the peaceful setting. Wayne enjoyed family more than anything else but fishing and hunting were close seconds. He just loved nature, and anything to do outside he was on it. Wayne enjoyed long walks in the woods, berry picking, smoking fish, growing things and all kinds of hunting. He was fortunate enough to go on many long trips of outback camping and fishing. Later in life Wayne and Alice would winter in Florida, where they loved to shell hunt and take walks along the beach. They made friends wherever they went.

Wayne is survived by his loving sons, Gerald (Renita) Muringer and Wayne (Charlotte) Muringer; grandchildren, Jake (Nicole) Muringer, Christopher (Amber) Muringer, Josh Muringer, Amberlee (Isaac) Pruitt, Crystal Peters, Amber Peters, Michael (Jennifer) Bunker and Alicia (Denny) Ranger; 19 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ron Muringer and Robert Muringer.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Jerry and Johnny; and sister, Ida May.

Arrangements were handled by Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in St. Helen, www.steuernolmclaren.com.
