West Branch community gathers for annual Flag Day celebration

Members of the West Branch community gathered Friday at City Hall for the city’s annual Flag Day ceremony. Led by Mayor Paul Frechette, the ceremony included the retiring of the city’s current U.S. flag and the raising of a new one. In addition, Veterans Affairs Director Jeff Nichols gave a speech about flag etiquette and U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Trent Boyer talked about what it means to be a veteran. Local resident Sara Eden performed the national anthem. The event is an near-annual tradition in West Branch, dating back many years.
