Not all superheroes wear capes

Some wear blood donation bandages

April 28 is National Superhero Day. You can be the superhero your community needs any day of the year. You don’t need superstrength, a utility belt or a cool nickname. All you need is a kind heart and blood in your veins.

To be a superhero, and earn that bandage, make an appointment at a blood drive in your community, roll up your sleeve and donate blood.

In about an hour, you’ll donate a substance that could save up to three local lives. Your lifesaving blood could be transfused into a cancer survivor, sickle cell warrior, accident victim, NICU baby or other hospital patient in need, right here in our community.

In the real world (not in a comic book or a movie), your lifesaving superpower will make an impact that ripples out for generations.

Right now, local families call out to you for help. Will you save them? Make an appointment. Visit: donateblood.versiti.org/
