It was hot the day I visited the Ogemaw County Fair last week and I ducked inside an exhibit building to get out of the sun. The best of show display for antiques caught my eye and reminded me of a miniature antique dresser I entered in the Saginaw County Fair back in the 70s. My grandfather helped me restore the dresser, a salesman’s sample, and it won a blue ribbon.
Scenario day and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training were cited as standout favorites by a couple of young Civil Air Patrol members graduating an eight-day search and rescue academy outside the Luzerne Fire Department last Saturday.

Free school supplies, socks and haircuts were distributed to local youth at the AuSable Inclusion Center last Saturday. Pam Lenartowicz and George Haas, both volunteers and members of the center’s board of directors, were on site to help distribute items while Scott Primavera, owner of an Atlanta salon, offered trims.
