Under the Lights

There was snow on the hill in Rose City Park and more snow falling during Sledding Under the Lights Jan. 25. The event was well attended. Following a spell of extreme cold, sledders were happy to be out of the house enjoying winter fun.

A CHAPTER OF THINGS TO DO THIS WINTER

You should go skating—crawling, I ought to say—over a pond of glare ice this winter. Take the pond you are most familiar with. Go early on a bright day, before any skater arrives, and lying flat upon the clear, “black” ice, study the bottom of the pond and the fish that swim below you.

High winds knock out power

Around 2,200 Consumers Energy customers were briefly without power Monday due to high winds in the area. The company’s outage maps suggested most of the outages were concentrated in Ogemaw County.

Lip balm and tape measures

The drawer to the left of our kitchen stove is our useful drawer. After a while, it also holds a lot of things that get shoved there when we want to clear things off the counter.

MSU to host Artisan Cheese Workshop

Michigan State University Extension will soon host an Artisan Cheese Workshop. Participants will learn from professionals how to make, age, and savor handmade artisan cheese.

Cardinals compete in Mio

The Whittemore-Prescott girls’ wrestling team traveled to Mio Jan. 17 for an individual tournament. The team placed first, overall, of 28 teams.

Title & Trust returns to 3rd Street
