Energy company warns customers of fraudulent demands for payment
Consumers Energy is alerting Michiganders to be on the lookout of scammers who last week were contacting people and demanding immediate payment with a bogus threat that their service will be shut off.
Falcon golfers finish third
The Ogemaw Heights Girls Golf team travelled to Maple Creek Golf Course in Shepherd Sept. 8 to play in the second Jack Pine Conference jamboree hosted by Shepherd High School. OHHS finished third out of seven teams.

The Country Gardener’s Club is looking to the future. The members discussed ideas for the annual plant sale in May. The sale, which coincides with the Oscoda County Conservation District tree sale, is the only fund raiser that the garden club conducts.

Land values and cash rents
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s annual look at farmland values and cash rents was released. USDA Chief Economist Seth Meyer says cash rents are showing flat value changes year-over-year while farmer’s assessed value of their agricultural real estate increase by 4.3 percent.
