State Rep. Mike Hoadley (R-Au Gres) led the Michigan House Wednesday, June 11, in passing a measure allowing for the sale of the property currently owned by the state and maintained by the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) in Standish. The former prison has been closed since 2009, but MDOC still oversees and maintains the facility and grounds.
The West Branch Rose City Area Schools Board of Education recognized seven teachers for serving 25 years or more at its June 16 meeting. The meeting took place in the library at Surline Middle School instead of at Ogemaw Heights as the parking lot at OHHS is being resurfaced.
