Land values and cash rents
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s annual look at farmland values and cash rents was released. USDA Chief Economist Seth Meyer says cash rents are showing flat value changes year-over-year while farmer’s assessed value of their agricultural real estate increase by 4.3 percent.

It was hot the day I visited the Ogemaw County Fair last week and I ducked inside an exhibit building to get out of the sun. The best of show display for antiques caught my eye and reminded me of a miniature antique dresser I entered in the Saginaw County Fair back in the 70s. My grandfather helped me restore the dresser, a salesman’s sample, and it won a blue ribbon.

The USDA has released another round of crop reports and progress continues even with a mix of weather trends.

Caregiver Corner
The Oscoda County District Library received resources, tools and information for family caregivers from the Region 9 Area Agency on Aging, as did libraries in Arenac, Ogemaw, Alcona, Alpena, Cheboygan, Crawford, Iosco, Montmorency, Otsego, Presque Isle and Roscommon counties.
Voters reject Au Gres-Sims Schools bond proposal
Unofficial results released by the Arenac County Clerk’s office tonight after polls closed indicated voters rejected the Au Gres-Sims School District’s bond proposal with over 85% of ballots cast with no votes.
Band camp ends, but the show goes on
