Female deceased after stabbing, suspect in custody

The Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office issued the following statement on social media at 4:44 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.

The Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a homicide that occurred on Dec. 8, 2024. The incident occurred in the City of Rose City, Ogemaw County. The suspect is in custody and there currently is no threat to the community at this time.

Today at approximately 12:55 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a residence in Rose City to investigate a domestic situation involving a knife. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a 54-year-old female with knife and stab wounds. The female was deceased at the scene. A male suspect has been taken into custody as part of this investigation without incident.

This is an open and active investigation; additional information will be provided when it becomes available. There is no active threat to the community at this time as this incident involved persons know to each other and a suspect is in custody.

Investigators continue to examine the events that led up to this incident and the final results will be presented to the Ogemaw County Prosecutors Office who will review the matter and determine what criminal charges are appropriate.

The Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Ogemaw County Dispatch Center, Ogemaw County EMS, Troopers from the Michigan Department of State Police West Branch Post/crime lab and officers from the West Branch City Police Department.
