The Whittemore-Prescott Junior/Senior High School varsity football team lost their home game against the Alcona Tigers Friday night.Senior Thomas Saunders put the Cardinals on the scoreboard in the first quarter and the second, but the Tigers, for their part, scored 36 points in the first quarter alone and took the game by a final score of 74-16.The Cardinals now carry two wins and five losses on the season and are preparing for next Friday’s away game at Charlton Heston Academy, who are coming off a 26-0 non-league win against Hillman and carry a record of four wins and three losses.
“The game was won Friday night in the trenches,” said Standish-Sterling Central varsity football head coach Marty Malcolm.Malcolm’s Panthers delivered the Ogemaw Heights Falcons their first loss of the season at the Falcons’ home field last Friday.
Ogemaw Heights played the 2024 homecoming against Midland Bullock Creek, winning decisively, 41-3.
The Whittemore-Prescott Cardinals varsity football team fought to the final moments of their game at Mio AuSable Thunderbolts field Friday night.The Cardinals’ opening offensive drive included runs for steady gains by sophomore fullback Aiden Bell and senior quarterback Sam Vyner, with Vyner breaking through Thunderbolt defenses halfway through the first quarter to put the first points on the board with a touchdown followed by a two-point conversion.
