New business in Rose City
Bourbon’s Hair Studio in Rose City opened April 1. Owner Brittany Urban and her partner Tracy Wangler hosted an open house March 30 to introduce people to the new business which is located at 515 S. Bennet St. (M-33), north of the light in Rose City. Wangler owns the building which houses his two businesses, Wangler Boot Shop & Accessories and Rose City Independent Insurance Agency.
Michigan maple sap is flowing
Members of Michigan Maple Syrup Association welcomed visitors March 22 to see syrup production and sample this year’s syrup and other maple products
Sweet things are on the horizon
To celebrate Michigan’s oldest agricultural activity, Ogemaw County producers Delaney’s Wood Fired Maple Syrup, Rose City, and Ron’s Pure Maple Syrup at the Reetz Family Sugar Bush, West Branch, are participating Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23

Meet the derby winners
Knights of Columbus #8948 sponsored the Snow Box Derby Feb. 2 on the big hill at City Park in Rose City.
Snow Box Derby this Sunday
The annual Snow Box Derby, sponsored by Knights of Columbus #8948, will be held Sunday Feb. 2 at City Park in Rose City. Current conditions and forecast look favorable for this year’s event. The event usually attracts 20-30 entrants, but participation was down last year due to lack of snow.
Under the Lights
There was snow on the hill in Rose City Park and more snow falling during Sledding Under the Lights Jan. 25. The event was well attended. Following a spell of extreme cold, sledders were happy to be out of the house enjoying winter fun.
