Help showcase painted quilt boards
During the West Branch sesquicentennial celebration this past summer, our community came together to create three beautiful 3’ x 3’ quilt board–style canvases. Each piece is a work of art that reflects the spirit and creativity of Ogemaw County as well as the 4-H philosophy of learning by doing.

National Newspaper Week
As we celebrate the 85th anniversary of National Newspaper Week from October 5-11, 2025, it’s crucial to acknowledge the pivotal role local journalism plays in shaping informed communities. By providing citizens with the facts they need to make informed decisions, local reporting empowers individuals to take an active part in their daily lives.

The many reasons to support local journalism
Many adults can likely recall mornings during their childhood when newspapers were tossed into the driveways of many homes throughout their neighborhoods. Some adults might even have delivered papers from their bicycles each morning.

Filter First – Healthy Hydration Grant application is now open
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Office of Health and Safety, in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), is informing K-12 public and nonpublic schools, and licensed child care centers that the application for the Filter First – Healthy Hydration Grant is open in GEMS/MARS. The grant application will remain open until Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
